Do security cameras need Wi-Fi?
Most wireless models do, for remote viewing and alerts. Some kits will still record locally to a HomeBase or SD card if the internet drops out, so you don't lose footage during an outage.

Do I have to pay a monthly subscription?
Many cameras in this range can record locally without a paid subscription. Storage requirements vary: some include built-in storage or a HomeBase, while others require a compatible microSD card. Optional cloud plans may still be available.

Are outdoor cameras weatherproof in Australian conditions?
Outdoor models carry different weather-resistance ratings, including IP65 and IP67 on selected products. These ratings cover resistance to water and dust, not heat tolerance, so check the operating-temperature range on the individual product page. 

Can I view footage from my phone?
Yes. Both Eufy and EZVIZ have free apps for iOS and Android with live view, playback, motion alerts and multi-user access.

Do they work at night?
All current models have night vision. Many of the newer Eufy units include colour night vision using starlight sensors and a built-in spotlight, so you get useful detail rather than a green blur.

What's the difference between wired and wireless?
Wired means constant power via cable. Wired and wireless can describe either the power source or the network connection. Some Wi-Fi cameras are battery-powered, while others use plug-in power. Check both the power and connectivity specifications. Wireless is easier to install, wired never needs recharging.

Is refurbished as reliable as new?
Refurbished units are tested for functionality, but cosmetic condition, previous use and included accessories can vary. Check the listed grade and inclusions before purchasing. For front-door coverage specifically, a refurbished video doorbell is often the best-value entry point.
